What information is being collected?

The Neocron Support Team collects and processes the following information:

Personal information

When registering on our community forum, you are asked to enter your e-mail address. You may, however, visit our site and forum anonymously.

Whilst registering for a site / game account, you are asked to provide your email address, a custom secret question and secret answer. This is used to enable us to enforce the terms and conditions of your Neocron account (below).

Internet Protocol address (IP address)

When you interact with our services, we receive and store your IP address. We need this information to run and support the game. The Neocron Support Team also uses IP addresses to allow us to enforce the terms and conditions of your account(s).

Login timestamps

The Neocron Support Team collects login timestamps from all accounts. We use this information to provide support – for example in the event of a broken or stuck character, or to track in-game assets. We also use this to enforce the terms and conditions of your account(s).

Hashes of the game Client files

These files are collected and monitored to detect manipulated client files.

Who is collecting it?

Your personal data is collected, securely stored, and processed by the Neocron Support Team. We do not provide this information to any third parties.

How is it collected?

The information we collect is provided by players. We collect information from you when you create or update your account(s), when you register on our forum, when you play our game, when you use our social channels to communicate with others, when you use any of our services for purchases in-game, and whilst you are receiving helpdesk support.

Why is data being collected?

Playing our game

Player data is required for verification of a player's identity. This allows us to enforce the terms and conditions of your Neocron account. Furthermore, it allows us to correctly track a character's progress through the Neocron world.

Accessing our forum

Player dats is required for verification of a forum user's identity. This allows us to enforce the terms and conditions of your Neocron forum account.

Using in-game chat We may monitor in-game chat for the purpose of determining whether a violation of our Rules of Conduct has occurred and to take appropriate action as we deem reasonably necessary.

For the purposes of in-game communication we encourage you not to use your real name or disclose personal information in a chat - once posted any personal information will no longer be private.

Receiving helpdesk support

To receive Helpdesk Support you can email our Support Team (helpdesk@neocron-game.com) from the email address associated with your account, this allows us to ensure we're communicating with the account owner.

If you no longer have access to the email account associated with your game account, we request personal information i.e. the answer to your secret question, in order to verify your identity.

Rules of conduct enforcement

Every account has to follow the rules of conduct; rule breaches are forbidden. The Neocron Support Team may monitor in-game activities to ensure every account is playing in line with the rules of conduct.

If an account is not playing in line with the rules of conduct the Neocron Support Team will take further steps, such as suspending or deactivating those accounts.

Who will it be shared with?

Disclosure of information to outside parties

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to third parties. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

We do operate alongside trusted third parties who operate our website and servers – and have agreements in place with them regarding the access of sensitive data.

We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law or enforce our site policies – in order to protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.

Neocron API

Authors of third-party applications may request use of the Neocron API for their projects.

In game information, such as your character's name, clan affiliation and progression is available publicly via API. No personal information is shared during transactions using this API.

Third-party links

Occasionally and at our discretion we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback regarding their practices.

How long is data stored?

Personal data relating to your account is stored for the whole-life of the account.

If you do not wish for this data to be stored and handled by the Neocron Support Team, you may delete your account by sending a request to our customer support (helpdesk@neocron-game.com) or you can delete it yourself in your account settings.

After account deletion, your private information will be kept for a up to 60 days to allow us to ensure that our account terms and conditions are not breached.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, alter, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Database and may only be accessed by those authorised to access our systems. Throughout, we are dedicated to keeping your information confidential.

What will be the effect of this on the individuals concerned?

As we do not broadcast or share personal information, we do not foresee any effect on players. Please be reminded that in-game assets are the property of the Neocron Support Team, rather than the player, and as such are not governed under GDPR rules.

Is the intended use likely to cause individuals to object or complain?

As the Neocron Support Team does not trade, nor make available, any private details, we do not foresee an instance which may raise objection. However, if you do have any concerns, please feel free to email helpdesk@neocron-game.com.

How can I access my data?

Information Access Requests

Your personal information is stored as part of your in-game account and forum account and you may access it by logging into the website and forum. In game assets, including (but not limited to) character names, levels, items, and also information on any punitive action taken against a player for breaching terms and conditions are not considered to be personal information and will not be shared as part of an information access request.

Do we use cookies?

Both the Neocron website and community forums use Cookies. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser - if you allow them.
